Finca Viva

Private Jungle Oasis

Jungle Sanctuary…

Finca Viva is a 20 acre secluded jungle sanctuary set within and surrounded by thousands of acres of protected coastal rainforest above Uvita. Panoramic, immersive, and deeply quiet, it offers the rare feeling of living inside the jungle itself — while enjoying the comfort, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design of a refined tropical home.

Perched at approximately 400 meters above sea level, the property enjoys pleasantly warm days and cooler evenings that keep the climate comfortable year-round. While only about 15 minutes from Uvita and all of its amenities, Finca Viva sits above the heavier coastal humidity and heat, offering the best of both worlds — close to town when you want it, and refreshingly cool, quiet, and peaceful when you return home. Sweeping mountain and valley views stretch in every direction.

Designed to Breathe

The residence is a beautifully crafted bamboo jungle home, architecturally designed with a passive airflow and ventilation system that naturally cools the house, eliminating the need for air conditioning. Open spaces and high ceilings allow air to move gently through the home, creating a naturally comfortable environment day and night, while ceiling fans and cooler evening temperatures make sleeping effortless.

Water at Finca Viva comes from a gravity-fed natural spring, drawing crystal-clear mountain water from the quebrada on the hillside and flowing directly through the home — an experience that feels as pure and alive as the surrounding forest.

Jungle Rhythm

Each day begins with mist rising through the canopy, toucans calling in the distance, and howler monkeys announcing the morning. As the hours pass, the soundtrack of the jungle evolves — from daytime birds and insects to the hypnotic chorus of frogs and night creatures after dark. It is living, breathing music.

Just a short walk away, guests can access a nearby river with waterfalls and swimming holes, perfect for cooling off, exploring, and reconnecting with nature.

Living Abundance

For those who have ever dreamed of creating a regenerative, polyculture or permaculture jungle farm in Costa Rica, Finca Viva offers a living glimpse into that possibility. The land features seasonal fruit trees, food forests, and diverse plantings woven into the surrounding jungle.

Whatever is in season, our caretaker Rolbin ensures guests experience the abundance of the land through fresh fruit and harvests. Two on-site ponds include a tilapia fishing pond and a second pond with exotic native fish species, giving guests the opportunity to catch their own fish and prepare it over fire.

Gather & Unwind

At the heart of the home, an open kitchen with a large granite island becomes a natural gathering place for cooking, conversation, and connection. Steps away, a 12m x 6m jungle-framed swimming pool is complemented by loungers, an outdoor shower, and shaded seating.

A nearby rancho with wood floors offers space for outdoor dining, yoga, stretching, or meditation, while an Argentine-style parrilla invites slow evenings around fire and food.

Easy Access

Finca Viva feels like a luxury jungle cabin — raw, immersive, and alive — yet with excellent road access and only about 15 minutes from Uvita, where guests will find restaurants, shopping, pharmacies, beaches, tours, and all essential amenities.

Grocery and organic farm deliveries can be arranged, and strong fiber-optic internet makes the property ideal for extended stays or remote work. Your hosts, Christoph and Erika, are always happy to share trusted local connections, recommendations, and can assist with arranging private in-house catering if desired

Exploring The Southern Pacific

Minutes away, Marino Ballena National Park protects wide stretches of coastline and the iconic Whale’s Tail, revealed at low tide. Beach walks, swimming, tide pools, and seasonal whale and dolphin migrations define the coastal rhythm here. Nearby beaches expand the experience, from the wild openness of Playa Hermosa to the calm, working shoreline of Playa Dominicalito, and the surf-driven energy of Dominical.

Just below the property, the Río Morete winds through the valley, creating clear freshwater pools, shaded riverbanks, and small waterfalls that feel quintessentially Costa Rican. These river corridors also support abundant birdlife and wildlife—riparian edges attract toucans, flycatchers, kingfishers, and seasonal migrants, while monkeys and other mammals move between forest patches along the water.

Birding and wildlife observation are woven through every layer of the landscape. The Southern Pacific supports resident and migratory species across coastal, riverine, and forest habitats, making encounters feel natural rather than staged. In addition to regional birding areas, private guiding and birding experiences are available directly on the Finca, offering guests intimate access to trails, forest edges, and habitat transitions without leaving the property.

Inshore and nearshore fishing can be arranged from Dominicalito, while offshore fishing excursions are available from Sierpe, approximately 1.5 hours away, providing access to deeper Pacific waters. Day trips into the mountains above the property lead to local coffee farms, where cooler temperatures, rich soils, and traditional methods reveal the agricultural heritage of the region.

Testimonials

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home, set in a peaceful and serene environment. The highlight was definitely the surrounding nature – we were amazed by the wildlife right outside the house! During our 4-night stay, we spotted howler monkeys, a tayra, agoutis, coatis, toucans, a laughing falcon, and many other birds, along with plenty of frogs and toads. The swimming pool was perfect for relaxing, and Erika was a great host with excellent communication..

Erika was one of the best hosts we have had in the past. She was very responsive and accommodating. The place was incredible, everything was clean, great layout and fully stocked in the kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were soft and nice. If you’re looking for a great balance between jungle, beach and commodity this is the place. We saw all sorts of animals during our stay, the kids had tons of fun in the pool and we had space to relax on the hammock with an amazing view to the mountains. Thank you so much Erika.

Erika’s place was even more beautiful than the pictures! It was very peaceful – my toddlers absolutely loved the place, especially the pool (which does have a shallow end). We made good use of the open-air kitchen.

We saw lots of wild life without trying including toucans. We didn’t bring a car and Erika was very helpful in connecting us with local services etc. The nearest town has a nice national park that if you get there early, it’s a surreal experience with the ocean set against the rainforest.

Overall, extremely pleased with the experience and highly recommend it!

We stayed at Erika’s river house many times and felt right at home, so we didn’t hesitate to stay at Finca Viva when it became available. This property literally left us without words. There is absolutely nothing we would change about it. Even with a baby under 1, it had everything we needed and we really only left to get groceries. As always, Erika was the perfect host and her local team made us feel so welcome. We will stay here as many times as she’ll have us.

We had a great stay at Finca Viva. Erika is, by far, the best host I’ve ever dealt with on Airbnb. Her recommendations were on point. We had one small problem during our stay and she responded immediately and had the issue resolved within hours.

We didn’t explore the property as much as we would have liked because the trails were a little muddy and slippery (we visited at the end of the wet season). We were able to follow Rolbin down the mountain to the river and waterfall, which was awesome. The pool was a huge bonus. The wildlife around the property was also a treat. We saw a bunch of toucans, hummingbirds, coatis, nighthawks, frogs, lizards and more. No monkey sightings, but we could hear the howler monkeys nearby.

It was a great place for our little family of three to stay for a little more than a week. There’s so much to do nearby. Thanks again Erika!!
